Introduction:
Since the establishment of the "Shandong Ocean Intelligent Big Data Engineering Technology Research Center" (hereinafter referred to as the "Engineering Technology Research Center") at Ocean University of China, it has become an important carrier for the school to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, promote "mass entrepreneurship and innovation", enhance Shandong Province's innovation capacity, and support economic and social development. The center has built a multidisciplinary marine big data system with satellite remote sensing, ocean observation, and numerical modeling as its main components. It has good basic conditions in data acquisition, storage, and services, and has achieved innovative research results in information integration, intelligent mining, dynamic visualization, and industry applications for marine big data.
The Engineering Technology Research Center now has three major professional laboratories for marine acoustics, marine optics, and marine remote sensing, covering a total area of 2400 square meters, with 300 square meters of office and research space, and scientific research equipment worth a total of 42 million yuan. It has more than 20 scientific research instruments for data collection, research experiment simulation, and large-scale supporting facilities, which provide effective support for research and development work. The center has hosted or participated in 15 national-level scientific research projects, with a funding of more than 20 million yuan; 6 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, with a funding of more than 50 million yuan; and 10 other scientific research and technology development projects and cooperation projects, with a funding of more than 5 million yuan. All project funds are used for scientific research activities, and research and development conditions are at the forefront of the country.
In order to further practice the policy of establishing a comprehensive big data development system and mechanism, cultivate high-level scientific research teams, strive to become the global standard setter for multidisciplinary comprehensive observation of ocean big data facing deep-sea, the innovator of domestic ocean big data cloud storage and high-performance computing, the pioneer of core theoretical technology innovation for domestic ocean big data intelligent mining, and the demonstrator of domestic ocean big data sharing and collaborative services. The Engineering Technology Research Center has established a long-term cooperative and co-construction relationship with the National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, and is currently conducting in-depth research on basic theoretical methods for marine science big data, marine science big data service system and service platform research, key application technologies and research for marine big data, and new generation supercomputing key technologies for marine science big data and intelligent computing.
