On the afternoon of June 1st, the Information Science and Engineering School and the School Administration Office held the 5th Educational Teaching Seminar on Information Science and Engineering School Textbook Construction in Laoshan Campus. The meeting invited the executive editor and deputy editor-in-chief of Tsinghua University Press, Wei Jiangjiang, the editor-in-chief of the computer and information branch, Bai Lijun, and the planning editor Guo Sai to discuss and exchange ideas. The deputy director of the School Administration Office, Xin Yuanzheng, and the deputy dean of the Information Science and Engineering School, Gu Yongjian, attended the meeting. The dean of the Information Science and Engineering School, Dong Junyu, presided over the meeting.

Dong Junyu expressed his warm welcome to the Tsinghua University Press delegation for their visit to the school to participate in the discussion and exchange. He briefly introduced the development history of the university and the Information Science and Engineering School, and proposed the needs of the school's textbook construction and publication from the perspective of new engineering education development.

Lu Xianhe gave a report titled "Building Excellent Textbooks to Serve Talent Development". He shared the reasons for doing textbook construction and how to do it well from four aspects: the significance of textbook construction, construction paths, hot issues, and construction cases. He pointed out that promoting teaching development is the goal of textbook construction, curriculum research is the foundation of textbook construction, sharing and communication is an important means of promoting textbooks, and writing textbooks can effectively enhance the influence of disciplines and majors. He proposed new situations and requirements for textbook construction, including digital resources, new forms of textbooks, integrating ideological and political education into textbooks, and listed the excellent construction cases of computer series textbooks at the National University of Defense Technology and Tsinghua University. He believed that organizing a specialized team for textbook construction, obtaining funding and relevant supporting policies, and summarizing and studying the training system are the keys to textbook work. He expressed his willingness to collaborate in areas such as curriculum research, professional series courses, course clusters, characteristic courses, academic monographs, and digital teaching resource construction.

Gu Yongjian pointed out that the first step in the future textbook construction is to sort out the curriculum system, and on this basis, write and publish excellent new textbooks that reflect the new development of disciplines and courses and possess the characteristics of the university itself.

Xin Yuanzheng proposed that the direction of future textbook construction should be to sort out the professional knowledge map, eliminate redundancies and overlap points, identify blank areas that can produce highlights, and look forward to publishing textbooks that are systematic and distinctive, building a new highland for textbook construction.

The participating teachers conducted discussions and exchanged views with experts from Tsinghua University Press from the perspectives of both readers and editors, covering various aspects such as textbook publication and promotion.

The next step is for the Information Science and Engineering School to further sort out the training system and deepen cooperation with Tsinghua University Press to publish research reports on computer and electronics related curriculum systems and related textbooks. Both sides have reached consensus on this.

The relevant responsible teacher from the School Administration Office, the representative of the Computer Foundation Department, and the representative of the Information Science and Engineering School attended the meeting.
