Undergraduate education

The Faculty of Information Science and Engineering has a complete range of majors in undergraduate education, including Physics, Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Electronic Information Science and Technology, Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Intelligent Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Software Engineering, Ocean Technology, Network Space Security, and Confidential Technology. Additionally, there is a Sino-foreign cooperative education program for Computer Science and Technology offered by the faculty.

Computer Science and Technology and Ocean Technology have been selected as the first batch of "National First-class Majors," while Physics, Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, and Communication Engineering have been selected as "Shandong Provincial First-class Majors." The faculty has several provincial, municipal, and school-level teaching masters and offers many nationally first-class undergraduate courses as well as provincially first-class undergraduate courses.

Recently, new majors such as Intelligent Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Network Space Security, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, and Confidential Technology have been successfully launched to adapt to the development of new generation information technology. Electronic Information Engineering and Computer Science and Technology are comprehensive reform pilot majors under the Ministry of Education's "Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program." They have jointly established national engineering practice education centers with Hisense, Haier, and HP Group, and the Computer Science and Technology major has a software engineering direction of the HP class.

Moreover, the National College of Cyber Security affiliated with the faculty is one of the ten national colleges of cyber security in China and the only one related to maritime security. By integrating the advantageous resources of computer science, network space security, management, and law majors, it cultivates multi-level advanced and specialized talents who have a solid theoretical foundation in computer science, comprehensive professional knowledge of marine, legal, and confidential management, and skills in technology and management.

Graduate education

The Faculty of Information Science and Engineering is a research-teaching unit based on Physics, with Ocean Technology as its characteristic, Electronic and Information Engineering as its key focus, and the combination of industry, academia, and research as its approach. After years of development, it has gradually formed a disciplinary system with compatibility between science and engineering, optimized structure, reasonable layout, and distinctive features.

The faculty has two major advantages in the disciplines of marine detection technology and information engineering technology. It has two doctoral programs, Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, and three interdisciplinary doctoral programs, including Ocean Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Physics and Optoelectronic Information Science. It also has six first-level disciplines, including Physics, Optical Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering, Geography, and Software Engineering, and one interdisciplinary master's program in Ocean Technology, as well as professional degree categories (fields) such as Electronic Information, Resources and Environment, Agricultural Engineering and Information Technology, and Engineering Management (Information Engineering Management Direction).

The faculty has achieved a leading position in domestic and international research fields such as satellite remote sensing, ocean detection, underwater robots, and navigation positioning. Based on the above degree programs, the faculty offers a total of 14 academic master's programs, 10 professional master's programs (fields), nine academic doctoral programs, and two professional doctoral programs (fields).

In response to the requirements of the Ministry of Education for improving the quality of professional degree graduate education in the new era, the faculty has carried out reform pilot programs for industry-academia integrated education. The pilot professional degree graduates are trained by both enterprises and universities, and excellent companies with strong scientific research capabilities in China are selected for internships and practical training. They aim at theoretical and applied innovation in important national strategic directions, cultivating high-end technical talents with not only solid professional foundations but also strong comprehensive practical abilities and innovative consciousness for China's science and technology industry.
